A CSC event for CSC Alumni and friends – physical and virtual attendance is invited.

Join CSC alumni In Melbourne on Tuesday 2nd December 5.30pm – 7.30pm AEDT to hear from our guest speaker Martine Letts, Group CEO Asialink – The University of Melbourne.

In-person at: Australian Institute of International Affairs – Level 13, 356 Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria. Drinks and canapés will be available, along with a chance to connect and network.

Our speaker: MARTINE LETTS

Martine’s career encompasses roles in government, non-profit, and international policy sectors. She has longstanding expertise in public policy development and promotion in Australia and globally. 

Previously, Martine led the Committee for Melbourne as its CEO, following her tenure as CEO of the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) where she played a key role in shaping the organisation’s national strategy. In her earlier position as Deputy Director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy she led the Institute’s business and organisational development. As Secretary-General (national CEO) of the Australian Red Cross (ARC) from 2001 to 2004, Martine developed a transformative strategy to improve the ARC’s service delivery in Australia and globally. 

Martine was a senior Australian diplomat, serving as Australian Ambassador to Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, and Deputy Head of Mission and Australian Deputy Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. She advised Foreign Minister Gareth Evans from 1992 to 1994. Her academic contributions include a decade on the Australian National University Council (2004-2014). She served on the board of Australian Volunteers International (AVI) for 9 years, and chaired AVI’s Governance Committee.  Martine contributes to the Indigenous Runway Project’s Advisory Board. 

Martine is fluent in French, German, and Spanish. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of International Affairs (FAIIA) and a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW). 

In July 2022, Martine was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws (HonLLD) from The Australian National University for significant contributions to public service and law.
